Amsterdam 25/05/16
Arrived in the city centre around 9.30 am and spent the day wandering around and met up with Wim, Lydia, Mike & Vivian at 6.30. Got one of the hop on hop off ferry tickets (highly recommended). Even though it was a pretty overcast day I have to say that I was enthralled with the city. Unfortunately for Lydia & Wim this means I will be returning. Few things amazed me: I did not realise how popular a tourist destination Amsterdam was and how tourist friendly it is. I was expecting the canals but not that many tourist oriented barges. As for the bicycles over 18 million of them for less than 17 million residents. Next time (as I did warn Wim and Lydia) I will possibly borrow one of their bikes and spend a few days touring the countryside.
